Privacy policy
What we collect when you contact us, why we have it, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it.
Last updated 19 September 2026. If we change anything substantial we will update this date and, where it affects you, tell you directly.
The short version. The only personal information we hold is what you type into the enquiry form or send us by email, text or phone. We use it to reply to you and to build your website. We do not sell it, we do not add you to a mailing list, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

1. Who we are
Anvil Works is a partnership between Otto Hallinan and Maximilian Tooke, of 17 Undercliff Road West, Felixstowe, Suffolk IP11 2AN. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at anvilworks.co.uk or on 07915 798255.
2. What we collect
| What | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Your name | The enquiry form, or you telling us |
| Your business name | The enquiry form |
| Your email address and phone number | The enquiry form, email, text |
| Your trade and rough budget | The enquiry form (both optional) |
| Anything you write in the message box | The enquiry form |
| Photos, logos, prices and wording you send us | You, so we can build the site |
We do not ask for and do not want payment card details, bank details, dates of birth, or anything about your health. Please do not send them.
3. Why we are allowed to hold it
- To reply to your enquiry. Our legitimate interest in answering someone who has asked us to get in touch.
- To build and look after your website. Performance of our contract with you.
- To keep records of work done and money taken. A legal obligation — HMRC requires business records to be kept.
4. Who else sees it
A small number of companies process information on our behalf. We have chosen ones that are straightforward about what they do:
- Web3Forms — receives the enquiry form and emails it to us.
- Google (Gmail) — holds our inbox.
- Netlify — serves this website and keeps standard server logs.
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing. If we are ever legally required to hand something over, we will.
5. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that go nowhere: deleted within 12 months.
- Customers: for as long as we look after your site, then 6 years, because HMRC requires records of business transactions to be kept that long.
- Files you sent us (photos, logos, copy): returned or deleted when you ask.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to: show you what we hold; correct anything wrong; delete it; stop using it in a particular way; or send it to you in a portable format. You can also object to us processing it on the basis of legitimate interest.
Email anvilworks.co.uk and we will deal with it within one month. It is free. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so we do not hand your details to someone else.
7. Cookies and analytics
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. We store one small item in your browser to remember whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we stop asking. That is strictly necessary for the choice to work and does not need your consent.
If you accept analytics, we count visits and which pages get read. We do not use that to identify you, and you can change your mind at any time using the link in the footer of the homepage.
8. Keeping it safe
This site is served over HTTPS. Our email and file storage are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication. We keep the amount of information we hold as small as we can, which is the most effective protection there is.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first — most things are a misunderstanding we can fix quickly. If we cannot put it right, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
